Kyle Miller brings almost 40 years of Oil & Gas entrepreneurship to Rock Oil with the last 33 years of his career as CEO or Owner. He began his career as a field landman with Hunt Energy Corporation in 1975. Since then Mr. Miller has been involved, in increasing capacities with Snyder Oil Company, Euratex Corporation, Miller Oil Company, Inland Resources Inc., Miller, Dyer & Co., LLC, and Chicago Energy Associates, LLC. Mr. Miller graduated from Texas Tech University with degrees in finance and law.
BRIAN F. HARPER
Vice President - Engineering
Brian Harper has spent over 16 years in the oil and gas business focusing on reservoir characteristics and recoveries. He began his career at Chevron and ended up at Rosetta Resources where he was the Reservoir Manager, responsible for the development of its Eagle Ford acreage as well as appraisal and acquisition efforts throughout the Lower 48. Brian left the industry in 2012 when he joined Wells Fargo’s Oil and Gas Acquisitions and Divestitures Team where he participated in buy-side and sell-side advisory assignments that led to over $2 Billion in closed transactions between 2012-2014. Mr. Harper has a BS in Petroleum Engineering from Louisiana State University.
JULIEN R. SMYTHE
Vice President - Finance
Julien Smythe has worked for over 20 years in both finance and law in the energy business. Before coming to Rock Oil in 2012, he spent five years as an investment banker running the Houston offices Friedman Billings Ramsey and then Stifel Nicolaus. Before his career as an investment banker, Mr. Smythe practiced corporate and securities law for over 15 years at Akin, Gump, Strauss, Hauer & Feld, LLP. Mr. Smythe has both a BA and JD from the University of Texas at Austin.
RICHARD P. HORNOCK
Vice President - Accounting and Administration
Rick Hornock brings over 25 years of operational and financial accounting experience in the oil and gas industry. He began his career at Shell Oil and has played key roles with various independent producers where he coordinated and implemented business processes and information systems. Rick received his BBA in Finance from Colorado State University and his MBA from the University of Denver.
MICHAEL ALBERTER III
Vice President - Reservoir Engineering
Michael Alberter has spent 8 years in the oil and gas business with a focus on petrophysics, reservoir engineering, and A&D. He spent the first 2.5 years of his career at Shell E&P . He then joined Rosetta Resources where he managed development plan optimization on their Gates Ranch Eagle Ford asset and helped grow the share price from $7 to $54. After joining the Wells Fargo Acquisitions and Divestitures team in 2012, he worked on buy-side and sell-side advisory assignments that led to over $5 BN in closed deals over 3 years with an increase in generated revenue each year. Michael received his B. S. in Mechanical Engineering from North Carolina A&T State University.
JASON R. CANSLER
Jason Cansler has spent over 15 years integrating his geologic understanding of oil and gas reservoirs with the commercial skills necessary to acquire and develop them. He spent the first eleven years of his career at Chevron working in various technical and commercial roles both onshore and offshore. After his time at Chevron, he joined a small team at Wells Fargo to found its Oil and Gas Acquisitions and Divestiture Team, where he participated in buy-side and sell-side advisory assignments that led to $4.4 Billion in closed transactions between 2011-2014. Jason received his B.S. and M.S degrees in Geology from Kansas State University and University of Kansas (respectively), and his MBA from Tulane University.
DAVID M. FRAZIER
Vice President - Land
David Frazier has spent over 30 years as a Land Man handling all aspects of oil and gas properties from field work, to acquiring leases and heading up leasing campaigns, to negotiating JOAs and Farm out arrangements. He has worked throughout North America for companies such as ExxonMobil and Abraxas Petroleum Corporation. Mr. Frazier has a BA from Texas A&M University.
Vice President - Operations
Jeff Fooshee brings over 14 years of oil and gas operational experience to Rock Oil. He has worked as a staff engineer as well as an operations manager in drilling, completion and production capacities throughout his career. He began his career with BOPCO (formerly Bass Enterprises Production Company) after graduating from university. He has also worked with W&T Offshore and Stone Energy. His geographical experience spans from the Gulf Coast to Western Colorado. Mr. Fooshee received his BS and MS in Petroleum Engineering from Louisiana State University and is a registered Professional Engineer in the State of Louisiana.
Vice President - Geology
Pete Dillett has spent 11 years in the oil and gas business with a focus on geology, asset development, strategic planning, and A&D. He spent the first 8.5 years of his career at Chevron . During his time at Chevron he worked onshore California, the Deepwater Gulf of Mexico, and spent time as an advisor to Chevron’s Vice President of Global Exploration. He joined the Wells Fargo Acquisitions and Divestitures team in 2012, working on buy-side and sell-side advisory assignments that led to over $5 BN in closed deals over 3 years. During his time at Wells Fargo he was particularly focused on the Anadarko and Permian Basins. Pete received his B. S. in Geology from the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh, his M.S. in Geology from the University of Kansas, and his M.B.A. from Tulane University.
